About ARF

ARF is a framework for building action role-playing games. Users create their own plot and implement it using the basic ARF framework. Then they are taught how to extend the framework (via Python programming) in order to make the game unique.

The framework will be designed to allow for the possibility of implementing 2D isometric action RPGs similar to "The Legend of Zelda" and "Chrono Trigger" for the Super Nintendo, but the framework is minimalistic by design. ARF will only provide the basic physics and mechanics of moving around and interacting with the world. Users of ARF are encouraged to enhance their game by learning Python programming in order to extend the framework. In this way they will be able to make their game distictive by creating, for example, a unique battle or bartering system. To this end, there will be a series of lessons that accompany the framework which will help the user to learn Python programming and how to use it to extend the framework.
